The Veerman

The Veerman is a floating artwork created by the artist collective Observatorium Rotterdam in collaboration with CrossArts. As part of the "Love for the Mark" project, which focusses on the river flowing through Breda, I was invited to present my work during my own presentation weekend weekend. I viewed the Veerman as a laboratory—a space for exploration, research, and creation. With participants I created a new work on plexiglass filled with observations using the different tools, which I later on placed under water. With a periscope, visitors could observe the waves made by passing boats. I also offered the opportunity for metal fishing, using the finds to create prints with charcoal and linen, archiving the riverbed of our specific location.
